I believe every student can learnwhat they often need is instruction that meets them where they are. I'm passionate about tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to offer the kind of personalized support that's often difficult to provide in a traditional classroom. Many students simply need information presented in a way that aligns with their learning style or connects to their lived experiences. As a tutor, I work to bridge that gap by making learning feel relevant, accessible, and empowering.

My experience as an educator is broad and deeply rooted in both K12 and higher education. I've worked as a middle school math and English tutor, taught high school English for two years, and spent over a decade teaching college-level courses in film, literature, and writing. Across all of these roles, my focus has been on helping students grow as thinkers, readers, and communicators.

I hold bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Toledo and an MFA in Creative Writing from Louisiana State University. My academic background grounds my teaching, but it's the students themselves who inspire my work.

I tutor English and writing at every level, and writing is especially close to my heart. Watching students develop foundational skills and then transform those into beautiful, expressive pieces is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

My tutoring style is student-centered and responsive. I begin with informal assessments to understand where each student is starting from, what their goals are, and what interests them. From there, I tailor lessons and materials to help them make meaningful progresswhether that means improving their grammar, crafting a compelling argument, or simply gaining confidence in their voice as a writer.

Ultimately, my goal is to make students feel seen, supported, and capable. When learning feels personal and purposeful, progress always follows.
