I received a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Washington. I have worked as a researcher and computational biologist in both academia and the biotech industry, and science outreach and education is a passion of mine. My favorite subjects to tutor are science and coding. While some people think of these as difficult subjects, I firmly believe that anyone can understand these topics if taught in a way that engages them personally. It is important to understand a student's experience and interests to best tailor lessons and examples to fit their needs. I have tutored students of all ages in science, math, and coding for both academic and personal interest purposes, and have volunteered for many science-based public outreach programs. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, art and photography, and exploring new places.
