As a current student at Lehigh University majoring in English and Journalism, I am passionate about guiding students to build confidence and succeed academically in English, reading, and writing. My experience as a classroom aide and teaching assistant has provided me with valuable skills in creating supportive learning environments, allowing students to develop foundational abilities and a genuine enthusiasm for literature and self-expression.
My journey in education began with tutoring elementary students, particularly fourth graders, in reading and writing. I enjoyed helping them grow their literacy skills and have a huge a passion for storytelling. Additionally, my role as a Teaching Assistant for Honors Integrated Science involved teaching classes, facilitating lab sessions, tutoring students individually, and clarifying complex concepts. These experiences have shaped my flexible and personalized tutoring approach.
Outside the classroom, I manage a blog titled "Ashley's Weekly Walk in Faith," where I regularly write about personal growth, writing, and spirituality. This experience continues to sharpen my communication skills and deepens my commitment to inspiring others through clear, thoughtful writing.
My tutoring philosophy emphasizes patience, encouragement, and tailored support. I work to not only to boost students' academic achievements but also to help them become confident and strong communicators. English, reading, and writing are particularly rewarding subjects for me to tutor, as I love witnessing students discover their unique voices and perspectives through their writing.
In my free time, I enjoy reading romance and fiction novels, spending time outdoors, shopping, going on long walks, and I am always up for a coffee run. I am actively involved as a staff editor and writer for the student newspaper, further nurturing my passion for writing and journalism. My volunteer work at St. Luke's Hospital and Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue has reinforced the importance of empathy and dedication - qualities I consistently bring to every tutoring session.
