I am a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I received my Master of Arts and Teaching in Elementary Education. I am also a graduate of The University of Oklahoma where I hold a Bachelor's in Journalism. My true calling was to be an educator and mentor young students. I have worked as a teaching assistant, fourth-grade teacher, and tutor for the past 3 years. Currently, I teach lower elementary Montessori while working to get a certificate in with the North American Montessori Center. I tutor a wide variety of subjects at the elementary level and I am specifically an expert in helping children improve their reading comprehension and creative writing skills. I can also tutor at the high school English literature level since I am passionate about reading and enjoy having in-depth conversations about different books. In my experience with tutoring students, I aim to make my lessons engaging and interesting to help them feel comfortable learning while having fun. I like providing a variety of games and interactive activities for the younger students to keep them engaged and focused. I am patient and positive and value building strong relationships with the students and their families. When I am, not working, I enjoy taking long hikes in the mountains with my dog, rock climbing, playing tennis, and swimming.
