I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics then added an MBA degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Building on a successful career in the computer industry, I have worked in higher education since 2001. First, I had an incredible opportunity to lead a team building online degree programs for adult learners in business, education, and nursing. A decade later, I led an international leadership master's degree program where we taught students at several overseas locations. As part of these programs, I taught more than 40 online courses. More recently, for ten years I served students as a mathematics tutor/coach, both face-to-face and online, at a local two-year college. My tutoring style is relaxed and patient, recognizing that many students struggle with, and often dislike, math. Much of my tutoring work has been in algebra, trigonometry, finite math, and precalculus, but I am also adept in several other math courses. I love the challenge of helping students to think logically, to learn problem-solving techniques, and to find those particularly satisfying "ah ha" moments. I firmly believe that math education helps build critical thinking skills, which improves lifestyles. Outside of academia, I enjoy my grandchildren, karate, and genealogy.
