I love the look in a student's face after a sudden flash of insight. Oftentimes when something seems complicated or unclear we are actually already familiar with it in a very different form and simply need to have it pointed out (like how trigonometric functions can show up as graphs on a chart, but also as music). My Ph.D. is in Philosophy (from Notre Dame) so I have a wide range of interests and subjects I tutor in, including Theology/Religion, Logic, Math, Physics, and test preparation. (I've tutored for a few different, nationally known test preparation companies in the past.) I really do believe most people can learn just about anything if they have the desire and if it's presented to them in the right way. I enjoy the process of figuring out what a student is already good at and how to connect new knowledge they need to learn to ideas they're already familiar with.
