I am a graduate of Naperville North highschool and will be attending Purdue University this fall to major in Aerospace Engineering. I graduated in the top 10% of my class and took 10 APs, 7 Honors, and 1 DE. During high school I tutored for three years helping a wide variety of students across many subjects. From individuals with special needs in elementary school all the way to calculus students in high school. I primarily tutor math and it is my favorite to tutor as well. I truly believe that everyone can excel at it and all one needs is a good teacher. I believe I am an example of that. I used to struggle with math when I was much younger, yet through my dad's guidance, I learned to love and excel in the subject. I aspire to act as such a mentor to other students as well. My tutoring style is typically a four step process. I will go over the general concept with the student first. Then, I will work through numerous examples and ensure the student can follow along with no struggles. After the guided examples, I will ask the tutee to try and solve a problem, in these problems I will ask guiding questions to gauge their understanding and weaknesses. Then finally, I ask the tutee to solve problems on their own as I supervise. This approach typically works for most students, however, I have learned to tweak my methods as necessary. I believe no student deserves to be given up on, and everyone can break through that initial barrier and excel in the subject. Outside of school and tutoring, I cook, read, hang out with friends, and watch/play basketball, soccer, and football.
