I earned my Master's in Business Administration from Kent State University and my Bachelor of Science majoring in Accounting from Miami University. I am a CPA with experience both in industry and academia.

I recently retired as the Assistant Professor of Accounting after twenty-seven years of teaching, coaching and mentoring students. During this time, I won multiple teacher of the year awards, voted on by students. I primarily taught the financial accounting courses including Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting and Federal Taxation for Individuals.

Accounting can be a challenging subject for students, it is considered the language of business. I am a firm believer to learn the language you need a strong understanding of accounting theory.

Non-Accounting Majors:

The more quickly you can learn and understand accounting (the language of business) the more successful you will be in accounting, your other business classes and in your career.

Accounting Majors:

A strong basis in accounting theory is essential. Accountants are the scorekeepers, and business is constantly changing, so the accounting rules must change to ethically and with transparency report on economic outcomes.

For both group of students, I focus on learning accounting theory and then put theory into practice by working on accounting problems. As with anything in life, the more you practice the subject, the better you will become.

I am a firm believer in education. It is one of the best ways to move forward and improve your quality of life. What an incredible feeling when helping students and there is that light-bulb moment when all your hard work pays off and steps are taken forward in your education.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, and walking.
