I'm Leo! I am a finance student on the Dean's List at George Mason University. I have had the privilege to study a wide variety of subjects at the college level, including Mandarin, math, finance, and history. As a student, I have been especially grateful to teachers who are able to make challenging topics intuitive and even fun. This is what inspired me to become a math and Mandarin tutor. Both mathematics and Mandarin are intimidating subjects, and far too many students experience frustration at the foundational levels. I address this challenge by building a strong base of knowledge and building towards challenging concepts, ensuring no gaps in understanding. Above all, I teach with positivity, enthusiasm, and perseverance. Through my teaching, I have found that when students believe in themselves, they adopt a love for learning and achieve higher grades.
I specialize in teaching elementary and middle school math (pre-algebra and foundational math) to students ages 6-17. I strive to make my students confident and comfortable with math. I work especially hard to ensure that students who struggle with math gain the confidence and essential skills necessary to succeed in and out of the classroom. Students come to tutoring because they want to get better, and I bring the same energy, drive and desire to every session.
I am a good communicator, a fast learner, and a compassionate teacher. I take feedback well and conduct myself professionally. I hope to meet you!
