Hi! My name is Bethany Joy. I am a student in a Combined Bachelors of Science/Doctor of Medicine Degree Program at California Northstate University. I have completed my undergraduate studies at California Northstate University College of Health Sciences, and I am entering my first year of medical school at California Northstate University College of Medicine. As a student, I have always been fueled by curiosity, striving not only to gain knowledge about the world, but also discern the underlying intricacies of how things function. This is what first drew me to the field of medicine because I think knowing how the human body functions is important for everyone to know. Another defining characteristic of my academic ability is the strong work ethic I have formed through the influence of my hardworking family. I always strive to put my best foot forward in everything I do. Furthermore, I feel a deep desire within me to be a light to others and bring joy into their lives. I always seek out opportunities to practice my empathy and active-listening skills in order to grow as a person.
Tutoring has always been something that I am drawn to due to my love of learning and my desire to help others in any way I can. I worked as a tutor at Kumon Math and Reading Center throughout high school working with students from Pre-K to high school, and I have continued to tutor one-on-one in college. These experiences have allowed me to gain the necessary organizational and communication skills to help students learn and grow. I recognize that every student learns differently, so it is important to understand each students' individual learning style in order to best help students achieve their goals.
