I am currently a K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to 9th grade newcomer students. I have experience working at all levels, primarily elementary. With 5 years of teaching and tutoring experience in person and online, I am passionate about helping students learn and grow because I believe that each and every child has the ability to succeed with practice and positive encouragement. I have experience tutoring elementary math, English, language arts, writing, and some middle school math. My philosophy of teaching and tutoring is meeting students where they are and unpacking the meaning of a problem before we attempt to solve it. That way students deeply understand what is being asked, which will set them up to successfully answer with a strategy they know works.
