Personal Statement Kevin Gately
I am a Graduate of Manchester University, Obtaining a Post Graduate Management Certificate, working in Senior Management within the Health Service, and Leisure and Tourism services.
My qualifications are diverse and cover a variety of subject areas, I have found Psychology to be important in learning and development, I hold a BSc in Applied Psychology; a PGCE in Counselling and Psychotherapy from John Moore's University.
In 2022 I undertook an MSc in Child Psychology, to enable me to understand barriers to learning and help pupils overcome difficulties and develop strategies to maximise learning.
As a Teacher, Coach and Mentor I am passionate about helping students learn and enjoy learning, I currently work in a Secondary school teaching classes of various ages, abilities and subjects.
I believe learning and development should be encouraged for all it is through education we can understand and develop our full potential that offers and ability for us to grow and develop our understanding and reach our full potential in areas we desire to pursue
I have worked with a variety of students, including those with Special Educational needs, of all age groups; my experience in teaching includes the following subjects Mathematics, English, History, Psychology, Geography, French, Biology, and Business Studies.
I have also worked as a Senior Manager managing medical services and facilities, and overseeing and managing budgets in excess of 1.5 Million pounds, this included coaching, developing and mentoring a variety of staff.
I have also taught college students Business Studies and Business Development.
I would describe my teaching style as, encouraging, supportive, motivational, patient and relaxing, making learning enjoyable.
My pastimes are Chess, Running, weight training and reading.
