I'm a true believer in self-inquiry learning. I prefer students to figure out and discover their learning capabilities while tackling a problem, answering a question, or simply learning a new concept. This really picks up their self-esteem and encourages teamwork. I like being a facilitator with minimal intervention(only if needed, I can give hints or examples). I have discovered, in my 15 years as a certified teacher, that this style is very effective for long-term learning and general skill-solving development. During the six years that I taught Business English in South Korea, I learned how to be a better listener and adapt to all kinds of students. My trips to China, Taiwan, and Japan really opened my eyes to new cultures which enriched my personal life and thus become a more compassionate and patient human being. Koreans are typically very shy so learning how to create a comfortable and tension-free learning environment was indeed my ticket to success and in turn, the real winners were the students.
