I am a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where I received my Bachelor's degree. During my time in school I had the opportunity to study and complete Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Anatomy&Physiology classes. During that time I provided tutoring sessions locally in Harrisonburg as well as overseas during the summer. I try to make learning these subjects as low stress as possible by implementing the learning strategies recognized in literature (some books include 'Make It Stick', 'Ultralearning', & 'Peak'). The truth is that we all can learn more effectively and with fewer issues by using these particular techniques. What I enjoy most when teaching is to see a student use newfound abilities to be able to complete a problem they work on. My intent is to help students achieve their learning goals while simultaneously developing skills for future classes.

I love just about any outdoor activity and all kinds of sports. That includes hiking, camping, or just walking in my free time. I ran competitively and played on my high school basketball team. Some other favorite sports of mine are tennis, soccer, and volleyball. When the weather is nice here in Norfolk, I am lucky to have the beach very close to home. I am also a dog person at heart and that is probably because I grew up with dogs around me most of my life (sorry cats!).
