While in college, I had no idea the importance of the need for helping others until I was offered a job tutoring at one of the local area elementary schools. That opportunity allowed me to tutor students in low performing schools at local schools near my college. It was at this time in my life, that I realized how important it is to help others, especially children that were in need of help. From there, my interest in education grew, thus leading me to pursue a career in education. After graduation from Kansas State University with dual Bachelors degrees in K-12 Science Education and Life Sciences, I was on my way to helping educate others. My teaching career in education spanned from elementary, middle, high school, and college t all grade levels. Of course, consisting of teaching in the classroom, as well as tutoring students on a one-on-one basis, in groups in school, and after school at all school and college levels. I have tutored students in the subjects of Science, Language Arts, and Math. I have a doctor's degree in education with a concentration in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership. The focus of my doctoral program was understanding how students connect and transfer the subject matters of what they learned in the classroom to real world experiences in their immediate community. Also, I have a master's degree in Business Management from Lesley University, and a specialist degree in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership from Argosy University. I do not really have a favorite subject to teach. I love to teach Science and Math. However, I love o focus on reading and reading comprehension which are the roots of successful learning. My teaching philosophy is that all students have the ability to learn at high levels. Also, I believe that students learn differently and require different types of learning delivery strategies. I believe that a tutor or a teacher should be a facilitator in helping students understand how to learn and not just give them the answers to information. My interest and hobbies are reading, ballroom dancing, traveling and aviation. I love to go to airshows and in my spare time, I go flying with my flight instructor and other aviation enthusiast.
