I am an Indiana University graduate. I studied Elementary Education and I am currently a licensed PK-5 teacher in Ohio. I have 6 years experience as a 4th grade teacher and 2 years experience working as a middle school social studies teacher. I am currently out of the classroom to be at home with my children but plan to return in the next couple years!
I am passionate about education and love to work with children one on one to help them grow in their skills and confidence. While in the classroom, I always worked with students after school when extra help or attention was needed. I love teaching reading, writing, math, and science to elementary (K-5) students and feel very comfortable in each of these subjects. If I had to pick a favorite subject to teacher, I would have to say math!
I am a proponent of modeling how to do a task then allowing the child to try for themselves so they can build their own understanding. I believe having a positive attitude is crucial to success and always remain optimistic during lessons (especially the challenging ones!). I think it is important that students trust their teacher and feel like they can make mistakes and learn with their teacher in order to grow. Learning should not be stressful!
In my spare time, I love to read, go for runs, and spend time outside with my kids and dogs. I was a former colligate swimmer and coach for a local competitive team.
I love to spend time with my family, be active outside, go for long runs, and coach swimming.
