I'm passionate about helping students because I understand how overwhelming it can be to study for classes, prepare for exams, and try to balance it all with your personal life. I hope to be your biggest supporter and help you realize that school and studying don't have to be stressful if you have the right strategies. I've worked with elementary to high school students for over 5 years and I've been able to create different approaches based on the individual. I tutor math for 3rd - 12th grade, as well as the sciences. My favorite subjects to tutor are the ACT and SAT; this is because when I took the ACT, I saw a huge improvement between my first and second scores, and I believe that I have developed strong techniques that work. I believe that everyone has the potential to do amazing on standardized exams.
In general, I know that everyone has the potential to achieve great things, but sometimes we need a push in the right direction or extra help. My tutoring strategy typically stems from the idea that practice makes perfect. I use practice problems and exams to create lessons based on concepts that students are having trouble with. Once a concept is mastered, we can move on to a new concept.
A little bit more about myself is that I received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My long term professional goal is to be a physician, so I hope to be attending medical school within the next few years. In my free time, I enjoy photography, working out, and watching movies!
