After 30 years of teaching with much of that teaching nursing, I can offer you a strong background in nursing: anatomy, pharmacology, Physiology, and pathophysiology. You will find value in my classes that consist of not only up to date content, but my whole and authentic self. I can help you with concentration and focus issues, give you strategies for the different types of test questions, show you ways to relate topics together so that nursing builds on itself and isn't just a bunch of facts.I have a BS in Health Administration, and MEd in health education, and a MSRN as a certified registered nurse anesthetist with minors in stress management and adult and distance education. I have taught at Penn State University, the Pennsylvania and West Virginia departments of nursing, various community groups during the AIDS crisis, and numerous emergency health related services throughout seven counties In short, I've been around.
My nursing career consists of corrections, floor nursing, drug and alcohol rehab, level two surgical intensive care, community nursing during the AIDS crisis, and level 2 CRNA nursing at several hospitals. In addition to nursing I spent eight years involved in vehicle rescue, high terrain rescue, and hazardous material safety in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Educationally my delight is finding a way to help you "get it". Memorization doesn't last. You have to truly understand the concept to be able to keep it, I will use any type of teaching I can think of verbal, visual, stories, projects, charts, metaphors, hands-on-whatever it takes for you to get it. I do believe in grading just between you and me so that you know where you are and where you need to go. My other delight is working with marginalized people does that others may not want to work with so if your orientation is a little off if your mom doesn't understand your gender identity or if you're living in your car-no judgment here, who am I? Just bring your authentic self, don't cheat, and don't come to class stoned.

My nursing career has consisted of Corrections (county prisons) floor nursing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, level ll surgical intensive care, community nursing, and level ll , CRNA nursing at several hospi tals. In addition to nursing, I spent eight years involved in vehicle rescue, high terrain recovery, and hazardous materials safety in several states. Educationally, my delight is finding a way to help you “get. Memorization doesn't last. You have to truly understand a concept to be able to keep it. I will use any type of teaching I can think of- verbal, visual, stories, projects, charts, metaphors, hands on, whatever it takes for you to understand .Thought I do believe in grading (0- 100 percent,“you are good at this”), just between you and me. This is so you know where you are and where you need to go. My other delight is working with marginalized people- those that others may not want to work with. So, if your orientation is a little bit different, if your mom doesn't understand your gender identity, or you are living in your car- no judgement here, who am I? Just bring your authentic self, don't cheat, and don't come to class stoned- neither will I. In my spare time I am writing two books: A horror short story and a novel about a queer girl trying to straddle both sides of the binary in rural America in the 1970's. You have to truly understand a concept to be able to keep it. I will use any type of teaching I can think of- verbal, visual, stories, projects, charts, metaphors, hands-on, whatever it takes, for you to understand. I do believe in grading (A- D; 0- 100 percent.) this is just between you and me. This is so you know where you are and where you need to go.
