I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in History and later my Master's of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Since then, I have expanded from classroom teaching into alternative education, curriculum design, career coaching, youth leadership development, and behavioral health. From leading two-week-long summer programs touring colleges on board the schooner Amistad, to helping students identify personal strengths to take into job interviews as a career coach at Portland YouthBuilders, to creating multimedia curricula bringing historical activists to life, I've always held critical thinking as the cornerstone of my educational practice. I've had tremendous success with students by helping them identify their skills and challenges, make personal, individualized, and achievable goals, and develop their own voices. I have experience working with a wide variety of subjects but particularly enjoy teaching History, Social Studies, and Writing. I work hard to adapt my materials and style to best support each student and their individual needs and aspirations.
