A current Ph.D. candidate at the University of Arkansas, I have made educating myself and assisting other in their educations my personal and professional life. I have worked in education for over ten years. I received my MA in English and lit studies in 2016 from Texas A&M San Antonio. After becoming a funded PhD student in the field of cultural studies (an interdisciplinary area of study that looks at aspects of national culture with a focus on cultural productioni.e., literature, film/television, theater, etc.with a focus on the sociological impact), I worked for the Department of English at the University of Arkansas. I have served as the instructor or record for five consecutive years in many college level writing and literature courses. I have extensive experience in the development of language arts teaching materials and assessment tools to track student progression. I have worked as both a lead researcher and a graduate level research assistant for multiple articles in various academic publications.

In addition to my experience in front of a class, I have worked in several college level writing labs (UTSA's Judith A. Gardner Center for Writing Excellence and the Univ. of Arkansas's Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS+))honing my skills as a one-on-one educator. While working for CLASS+, I assisted in the research and construction of a lexiconic database of concepts and terms as an electronic student resource for use across academic disciplines. Throughout my career, I have acted as a direct resource and a content developer with student growth and success as my driving focus. Working in classrooms and writing labs for both UTSA and the University of Arkansas, I have developed various approaches to effective and flexible instruction. I love researching, writing, and teaching and my passion is reflected in my continued dedication to the crafts of composition/rhetoric and pedagogy/educating.
