I am studying philosophy and neuroscience at Columbia University. I volunteer at the Literacy Network helping adult learners receive their diplomas, and I have tutored students in math, science, English, the ACT, and the SAT for the past four years.
I enjoy most those moments when a student forgets about what they can and cannot do and gets lost in the subject matter. It sounds a little corny, but it's true that true discovery occurs in those moments of absurdly, naively forgetting the boundaries between our little candles and the vast darkness around. That said, in those more frequent moments when all that matters is that you feel confident about tomorrow's test and finishing your project, I will be there too to ease the stress and move the process along with silly mnemonics and so, so much patience.
Education & Certification
Undergraduate Degree: Columbia University in the City of New York - Bachelor in Arts, Philosophy
I am a pianist, organist, guitarist. In addition, I love to sing, although those who are honest with me tell me not to unless it's softly and with a choir. I also enjoy running on trails that cut through the prairies of rural Wisconsin where I'm spending this summer and playing soccer with my sister.
