Of all the most noble efforts of humanity, service to others is among the greatest. Likewise, teaching is among the greatest areas of service. There is for me, perhaps no more fulfilling and gratifying sensation, than to bring a student into a place of understanding that they might not have otherwise felt possible. This is my passion, this is my role.
I was awarded my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Composition and Piano from the University of North Texas, and my Masters in Arts in History with emphasis on Art History and Philosophy from the University of Texas at Alrington.
I have been teaching for almost thirty years on the higher education level and even longer with piano and music As such I have had the opportunity to engage with a vast array of different types of students. Students of nearly all ages, nationalities and ethnicities, backgrounds and interests. This has provided my with a laboratory of experiences that has, over time, constructed my philosophy of teaching and learning.
I tutor a large number of subjects that are nonetheless related to my favorite topic to teach and tutor, that being the Humanities. History, government, philosophy, music and art are some of the topic I tutor.
My teaching and tutoring style are very much the same. I look for my students motivation, their interests and what lights them up and I use that to convey whatever subject matter we are working on together. It is a journey both the teacher and student are on. How best to acquire knowledge, and how best to convey it.
Outside of Academia my activities revolve around my children and grandchildren and various Bible study groups
