I graduated Summa cum laude from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a pre-medical focus and a minor in Biology. At Saint Louis University, I spent two years as the Supplemental Instruction Leader for Organic Chemistry, conducting facilitated content review, tutoring, and exam preparation three times a week.
I am passionate about helping students succeed in chemistry. My love for Organic Chemistry stems from the fact that it forces us to think in different ways we are not simply regurgitating information, rather we are solving complex puzzles using a toolbox of strategies, knowledge, and intuition to come to the most reasonable conclusion. Over the last four years, I have learned to employ study methods and learning techniques to succeed in rigorous sciences and share these methods with students to assist them in becoming self-directed learners. I believe that to succeed in Organic Chemistry we must break down concepts to truly understand how they fit into the bigger picture of our studies. My teaching philosophy is focused on the idea that the student should feel comfortable enough to ask questions and think through concepts with the tutor. As a tutor, I help students address their weaknesses in the material and ask critical thinking questions to help develop the chemical intuition necessary for success.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Saint Louis university during my gap year before medical school. I speak fluent Spanish and work as an EMT in the Saint Louis region. I am also a part of the University Acrobatic Salsa Team. I am a coffee enthusiast and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking or running in my spare time.
