I am a past high school Math teacher having a BS in Math Education with a minor in Health and PE Education. I want to help students who have a desire to improve and understand math, writing, or reading better! As a teen who had a great temporary math tutor, I was able to score the highest on my AP test, was so grateful, and now want to give back by tutoring others. For all years of my degree, I tutored continuously campus college students mostly Math and some writing. I helped with various math courses at a drop-in-tutoring lab, and did one-on-one tutoring for the following subjects: Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 , Calculus, and essay writing. I taught Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in the public high school classroom before I chose to work from home as a mother. I've helped elementary kids with math and reading for 4 years at a local elementary school and taught 3 kids how to read from the start. Currently my tutoring focus subjects are: Pre-algebra, Alg 1, Alg 2, fractions, essay writing, elementary school math, and elementary school reading. It is important to me that a student is met where they are at (in terms of subject knowledge), and then we can build from there. I want them to feel empowered. I simplify concepts, explain them in different ways to further understanding, apply what they're learning to real life examples or their interests, and make it fun whenever possible! Education really is power. I believe it opens up all kinds of possibilities in life, builds confidence, and helps us appreciate and understand the world a bit better. Students can then go forward with more confidence, and they can find areas to contribute or make a difference. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my family, reading, shooting hoops with kids, dancing to good music, artwork, or making a delicious meal for friends or family! I Look forward to helping you or your child progress!
