I was raised in the Republic of Panama under the dictatorship of Manuel Noriega. This sparked an early interest in politics, geography, and govenrment. I did my undergrad and graduate studies in the US. I'm incredibly fortunate to have worked in my dream field of international human rights for 16 years. I've spent a lot of time meeting with Members of the US Congress and their staff, the State Department, foreign embassies and governments, and partnering with other non-profit organizations. This has given me a lot of first- hand experience in the areas of government, foreign relations, geography, and history. I've also had the opportunity to travel extensively, speak at international conferences, leading lobbying efforts , as well as represent NGO's at the UN in NYC and Geneva. A few of the places I've visited for work are North Korea, China, Egypt, Mexico, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Hungary, Canada, and Switzerland. I firmly believe that my personal experience can make these subjects more relevant and interesting to students. I had too many professors who only lived and worked in academia, and their perspective was limited. I'm passionate about making these subjects come alive for students who may even find a passion for one of them.

I'm a single Mom who spends a lot of time playing board games, filming my kids at the skate park, snuggling on the couch, reading, watching shows, and getting my butt kicked when I try to play video games with them. I love to hike and trail run with my rescue dog, Bear. I enjoy cooking but am a poor baker. My daughter suggests I try out for the Netflix baking show, Nailed It! I ski when possible. I absolutely love to travel and have a ton of places on my bucket list. I blog about the intersection of religion and politics and religious abuse. I'm extremely passionate about protecting women and children from abusive situations and spend a lot of my free time working on these issues.
