I'm a native of Washington, D.C. and I've grown up an avid reader with a deep-seated love for the written word. I attended an arts high school where I immersed myself in the world of creative writing and it was there that I first started tutoring other students in English and literary analysis. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Women and Gender Studies and I graduated Summa Cum Laude and a member of the honor societies Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Beta Kappa. Throughout my time as an undergraduate, I worked as both a teaching assistant and a writing consultant in the University's writing studio. After graduating, I chose to continue my academic journey by pursuing my Master of Arts in Literature. While the program I attended unfortunately became defunct, I completed 18 credits towards my degree and, because of my prior experience, had been awarded a graduate assistantship as a consultant in their writing center. In my experiences as a tutor, I have worked with a diverse array of students (including ESL) on various writing assignments to help generate, develop, and strengthen ideas and arguments, brainstorm revision strategies, bolster clarity and intent, and ultimately, aid in feeling more confident with the written word as a tool for success.
