For high school I attended Holy Names Academy in Seattle, Washington and I am currently working for my bachelor's degree in Math and Environmental Science at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. I was a gymnastics coach for three years, working with kids ranging in age from 4 to 16 and I taught beginning and intermediate level gymnastics. I was also an intern at my church and helped to teach bible lessons and organize and create lessons for the services on Sunday. In addition, I have experience in tutoring kindergarten age students who struggled with reading and tutoring students at my high school in English, Spanish, Math and Study Skills. In addition, I have experience working with students with both ADHD and Autism. Currently I am available to tutor elementary and middle school level math as well as Algebra, however I am most passionate about Algebra because it's a building block to a lot of higher level math which is exciting to me because if I can help someone to better understand and master Algebra then I am setting them up for a lot of other opportunities when it comes to the STEM world. My philosophy when it comes to teaching and learning is that with the right kind of help and motivation, a student can master any subject they put their mind to. Hard work, patience, and respect from both the student and the teacher are key to creating a learning environment that can produce tangible results. I would say my tutoring style is adaptable. I tend to teach through examples, but I also pay attention to how a student learns best and try to adapt my teaching so they may take in information in the most affective way possible.
