A French and history major in college, my love of the humanities is great! With over nine years of experience learning French, including a university degree in French, and two years spent living abroad in France, I am moved by the complexity of language and grateful for the friendships (some of them literary) and meaning French has introduced into my life.
With classroom experience as a language assistant working with elementary and high school students, I am aware of the difficulties of language learning and have learned to adapt my approach in function of age group and individual needs. Possessing a firm grammatical basis, I can just as well help you to prepare for the intricacies of AP or college French exams as engage you in French conversation about any of our shared passions: literature, cultural difference, gender studies, your impassioned beliefs on a given topic.
Starting in September 2021, I'll commence an MA in Romance Languages (French, Spanish) while simultaneously working as a French TA at the undergraduate level, so you can be sure my language capacities are kept sharp.
I'd be remiss not to address my other topics of instruction: reading, writing, and history. After four years in the humanities, I've needed to craft many an essay, and feel confident in my ability to help you construct an effect argument per subject requirements. An avid reader myself, I have experience helping students to holistically comprehend difficult texts. Finally, as a history major, I'm prepared to accompany you as you attempt to situate disparate facts and figures into the larger flux of history.
