I am a student at Duke Kunshan University, a university that is affiliated with Duke University located in Kunshan, China. I am majoring in Biophysics and hope to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in the Spring of 2022. During my time in high school, I often stayed after school to receive help on homework or ask the instructor questions about confusing topics. Whenever I felt I had adequately learned the topic, I would go around assisting other students who were also in tutoring because helping them learn and understand the subjects also reinforced my previous understanding. This way my peers and I mutually benefited, and it made me acquire a taste for tutoring. I am most interested in tutoring math and the sciences because I remember when I first learned the scientific laws that govern our world and my fascination with how, through trial and error, people were able to understand the world around us at a level no one ever had before. I am also passionate towards mathematics because the sheer brilliance and logic behind the subject make it a pure art form in it of itself. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to share some of the wonders that the human mind has achieved, and I believe that teaching is one of the best ways to learn. My teaching philosophy is to initially capture the student's attention about the subject and then to define the subject and walk through a couple problems that aren't too difficult. This way, the student is not disinterested in the topic and they feel as though they are genuinely gaining knowledge on the content. When I am not studying I am enjoy playing soccer, reading a good book, playing the French Horn, or watching a movie/TV show.
