I have an undergraduate from Southeastern Louisiana University and a graduate degree from Texas A&M both in Mathematics. I have been tutoring for over fifteen years. Most of my experience is with high school age up to adult learners. I am currently an adjunct teacher at a couple of community colleges.
I like to emphasize to my students the reason behind mathematical ideas over the process. The mentality of memorization that students often bring is a habit I try to steer them away from. I believe a better understanding can be reached by clearly showing how topics grow and expand into the next one. Students build more confidence and mathematical ability from this sort of ground-up understanding. I love the interconnected nature of mathematics and I try to share that with them.
Undergraduate Degree: Southeastern Louisiana University - Bachelor of Science, Mathematics
Graduate Degree: Texas A M University-College Station - Master of Science, Mathematics
In my free time, I like to play board games with friends. I get out and run regularly but my two kids, 6 and 4, keep me plenty busy! I love to cook, mainly dishes from Louisiana like red beans and rice and gumbo.
