As a tutor, I am enthusiastic about helping students demystify schoolwork and establish personal confidence in their academic abilities. I have conducted dozens of tutoring sessions within my local community growing up with students aged 5-55. Also, as the oldest of my family, I have a lot of experience working with my younger siblings and cousins.
From the University of South Florida, I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a concentration in language, speech, and hearing, as well as a Bachelor's of Science degree in aging science. I am currently working towards my PhD in Hearing Science and doctorate in clinical audiology.
I tutor elementary, middle school, and GED level math & science. At more specific levels, I cover algebra 1, statistics, Spanish 1 & 2. Additionally, I help with general academic coaching, test prep, study skills, and organization. My favorite subject to tutor is math because I believe that it often undeservingly gets a bad reputation. It is one of the few subjects where you can double-check your answers and try out different approaches to reaching the same end goal.
I like to apply personal context to problems and help students to view the questions from more than one perspective to give them options to decide their individual preferences. I aim to meet students where they are and make connections to the knowledge,
they already have to better understand more challenging topics.
Outside of academics I like to participate in group fitness activities, play board games with my family, and explore different restaurants in the neighborhood.
