I went to Converse College for my BA in Chemistry and the University of South Carolina for my PhD in physical chemistry. I taught at the College of Charleston for 7 years and earned tenure before leaving to be with my husband and start a family. I have also taught for 3 years at Thomas Nelson Community College. While we were stationed in Germany, I tutored both high school and college students. I love teaching chemistry. It is a subject that sometimes is avoided or feared by students and my goal is to help them feel more confident and succeed. So much of what holds us back from learning a subject is lack of confidence. Many of my students have responded well to breaking concepts down into patterns, lots of practice and visual examples when possible. I highly encourage questions and I ask a lot of questions myself to determine where a student is having trouble. Besides chemistry, I love to jog and I just started CrossFit which has been challenging in a good way. I look forward to meeting new students and helping them succeed in chemistry.
