Education is something that is very important because it can open up many doors for those who believe in being lifelong learners. It is important for the teacher and the student to both believe they are able to learn from each other. I want to be a teacher not only because I believe I am always a lifelong learner, but I think the sole purpose of being an educator is to witness growth in the student. I have worked for the last few years to become an educator because I believe learning is a two-way street. I want students to understand they are able to be successful in any area of their lives. It is important for an instructor to understand this. I want to be able to create a classroom that allows my students to realize they are invested in their own education as much as I am. I believe in the classroom being student-centered. My future plan is to create such a classroom for students to gain equal opportunity to learn. Working with students by tutoring and teaching has allowed me to cultivate my skills in my classes to become an effective educator.
I have graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry-Secondary Education from North Carolina A&T State University. I am a hardworking teacher who has worked diligently throughout my matriculation. I plan to become an educator because I do not see many students who are studying science in college and beyond. There are not enough students who are interested in the sciences. I wanted to become a science educator to spark interest in students who would not usually be interested in the subject. To get students involved, it is important to build relationships with students.
When building a relationship with students, it is important to get to know them as people and as learners. I want to get to know the students because I want to be able to chart their growth formally and informally. As an educator, I also plan to present the curriculum in ways that will allow for students to enjoy the subject instead of feeling as if it is a chore. I also plan to go further in education to become an area superintendent. As a superintendent, I will not have as much interaction with the students but I will still want to be involved. I want to help make improvements in education in any way I possibly can.
I believe that any student has the ability to learn. I want to touch the lives of many different students. I want to work with the different students to inspire them to become more invested in science education. I will be able to continue by gaining more experience in the education field. I have learned so much in this my first year and I plan to continue to grow from this experience.
