I have been a journalist for more than 35 years, working at The New York Times, Newsday and NBC News, among other companies. I earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Rochester and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

I tutor reading and writing, mostly. I got started helping my nephew with his homework and most recently helped him figure out what to say in his college essay. I excel at spelling and grammar.

I enjoy reaching young minds and seeing that spark of recognition when a student finally understands something.

When not tutoring I enjoy sailing, swimming, bike riding and doing cryptic puzzles.
