Experienced math tutor with a B.S. from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, currently seeking to pursue an advanced degree in the field of psychology. I am specifically interested in understanding what happens in students' minds when they interact with things that they don't understand. I believe that understanding how we interpret what we see will lead to the development of math materials that will help students remain engaged with things that initially appear to be too difficult.
I have worked with students both individually and in group settings for the past 13 years covering subjects including, but not limited to, high school statistics, elementary math, middle school math, algebra, pre-algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus. I also served as a Math Instructor in GED completion programs where my focus included both introductory and advanced mathematics topics. I currently tutor high school geometry, 7th grade math, and college algebra. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra due to my love of equations. I believe that mastering algebra will allow students to master more difficult math subjects in the future. My tutoring style is built on using students' strengths to improve their weaknesses and helping each student that I work with identify something that they find fascinating about what they're learning.
In addition to math I love health and fitness, cooking, and spending time outdoors. I also love to read and I have a passion for helping people get organized.
