I am a math teacher at in independent school in the DC area. I have over a decade of experience teaching mathematics and even longer than that tutoring. In fact, tutoring students as a high schooler made me realize I wanted to be a teacher. I love working with students one-on-one, since it helps me understand how their brain works.
I love to learn new things. Currently, I am focusing a lot of my energy on mind brain education and on equity in the math classroom.
Everyone can learn math and everyone can find beauty and joy in it. It's all about finding the right path through a problem. My tutoring method involves asking questions, tapping into prior knowledge, and presenting options of strategies. Then as students become more comfortable, I help them practice, check, and perfect their work.
