New to the Cleveland area, I graduated from Whitworth University, a private liberal arts university in Spokane, WA in May of 2019. I hold my B.A. in Theatre with minors in Spanish and Mathematics. Although these were my main areas of academic focus, attending a liberal arts university afforded me the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of academic disciplines, including writing (Spanish and English), worldview classes, dance, and music, especially voice.
While tutoring, I strive to foster a safe, flexible, and fun environment in which students can explore and develop their skills. Through my international teaching experience with students of all ages and backgrounds, I recognize the importance of creative, personalized teaching in order to best support each individual's learning style. I guide my students towards academic growth through encouraging and instilling values of curiosity, perseverance, and confidence.
I have significant teaching experience with students from kindergarten through college, teaching or assisting courses in theatre, voice, dance, and music over the past 6 years. At Stage Kids WA, I directed, vocal directed, and taught over 200 students ages K-12 in a variety of theatre productions and classes, forming long lasting bonds with students and their families that I still hold to this day. I have extensive experience coaching audition preparation, acting, voice, and singing singing technique with students ages 11-21. At Whitworth, I served as a TA for Acting and Voice Performance classes, coaching college students individually and in small groups. Also at Whitworth, I gained experience assisting students with math assignments as a math grader. I have studied abroad in Spain, Guatemala, Italy, France, and the UK. I also taught theatre classes in Spanish to students ages 8-adult in El Salvador, where I had the opportunity to improve my Spanish in an immersive environment.
I spent the summer after graduation interning at a social justice-based theatre in Chicago, where I worked with young people as they shared their stories surrounding their experience with racial and social injustice. I am currently serving as a Directing/Artistic Directing intern at a professional theatre in Cleveland Heights, as well as working part time as a Starbucks barista and Rover dog sitter. I am working towards pursuing an M.F.A. in Directing with the ultimate goal of becoming a professor of theatre. I am an avid animal lover, a huge Harry Potter nerd, and an ice cream addict!
