Hey, I'm Matthew! I just recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a bachelors degree in Biological Sciences, and I am currently taking a gap year before attending medical school in the Fall of 2020. As I think back over the past 18 years of my life in education, the teachers and instructors I learned the most from were those who made the subject matter fun, interesting, and applicable to daily life. I strive to take this approach to teaching in my tutoring to keep the student engaged and having fun!
I have extensive experience working with children through being a summer camp counselor for two summers as well as a mentor to a foster child for the past year. Through these experiences, I have learned how to communicate to children in a way that that allows them to feel welcome, loved and respected. These experiences have also taught me how to make "mundane" tasks more interesting and exciting. While I have more experience working with younger children (ages 6-12), I have extensive experience in upper level courses, primarily in math and science.
I have always loved math! I made a 4 on my AP Calculus AB exam in high school and was able to exempt all math courses in college, and scored in the 95th percentile (720) on my SAT.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. I look forward to hearing from you!
