I graduated high school from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science at the University of Houston. I have four years of tutoring experience in academic subjects and even more experience in teaching music. I enjoy tutoring calculus and physics the most, as these are my favorite subjects, but I am also good at other fields of math. Calculus and physics really appeal to me the most because those two subjects combined explain in great detail the world around us. I don't believe that teaching is walking someone through problems, but instead I see it as guiding someones way of thinking so that they can further understand and analyze problems by themselves. Understanding each concept is much more important than memorizing facts, if someone is taught to just memorize, they will fail whenever concepts start building on top of each other in complex ways. Outside of tutoring and studying computer science I also enjoy classical music. I have played piano for over thirteen years and have also picked up other instruments as hobbies such as saxophone and cello. I love performing and I have done it throughout my whole life. If I am not studying or tutoring, I am practicing.
I believe that helping others is not only someones responsibility, but their obligation if they wish to make an impact and improve the world.
