As I reached the completion of my M.S. degree in Pharmacology, I resolved to seek a position that leverages my research experience and scientific content expertise in an academic setting. As a STEM Varsity Tutor, I will utilize my previous academic experience, content knowledge, and oral and written communication skills to encourage students while they attempt to master new concepts, principles and skills.
Throughout previous university experiences, both as a student and an instructional assistant, I have gained a passion for creating an atmosphere that fosters learning in order to inspire students as they approach new, foreign information. I have a strong desire to go above and beyond to meet the individual needs of each student I have the privilege of tutoring.
During my recent position as an instructional assistant, I strove to demonstrate a genuine interest in students' success. I hosted office hours that exceeded the requirement outlined in my job description. Before exams, I scheduled review sessions open to students in all sections, not only those enrolled in my section times. I was available to schedule one-on-one tutoring sessions in order to address individual learning needs. Furthermore, being a recent graduate, I offered current additional study resources and unique time-management tips which were gladly shared in order to ensure students were attaining their full potential inside and outside the classroom.
