My name is Elli and I am a Yale Class of 2018 graduate in history. My passion is in European and World history, but have taken interests in American history along the way.
I started tutoring when I was 15 by helping elementary aged students with their work daily after class. By high school, I was working with ADHD and dyslexic middle schoolers with their coursework to help them overcome the hurdles that come with their disabilities. In college, I worked as a private tutor in history and political science, as well as helping local high school students with their SAT, SAT II, AP test prep. I received 5's on my AP tests myself and truly understand how taxing preparing for these exams can be I'm here to help! I also self-studied for exams such as AP Human Geography as these were not offered at my high school as courses (I received a 5), as well as for AP European History (also a 5). I took courses in AP World History and AP US History (both 5's). I have similar experiences with test prep for the SAT and SAT II's, and New York State High School Regent's exams.
In my post-graduate life, I work in the world of Jewish education at a local university. Here I help students with their religious questions regarding religious texts the Old Testament Bible, Torah, Talmud, etc among other fun Jewish life programming! I am not just knowledgeable in Jewish history and religion, but also in other major world religious and can help with those topics as well.
My research at Yale University regarded Memory Politics following the Second World War in Spain and Germany, which received university funding. I also received grants for my work on Israeli pre-state insurgency of the Haganah and Irgun. I was granted awards to pursue further research in Israel, including awards from the prestigious Schusterman Foundation, and have attended the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Conference as their guest on several occasions. I can help with American politics and history, as these experiences have allowed me to interact with members of Congress to local politicians and create a real-world understanding of the questions and scenarios depicted on your assignments.
I have had extensive abroad experience, including academic programs in Berlin, Germany, and St. Petersburg, Russia. I've also studied in Spain, France, Israel, Greece, and the UK over the last five years.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy working with my students in ways that benefit them most. I customise my lesson plans to each student's individual needs to help them translate what they are learning to real world application. I have over eight years experience and will find a strategy that works best for your needs, wants, and goals. I love engaging students with problems that will help change their thinking patterns to help them solve not only the tasks currently at hand, but all the ones they will encounter in the future as well.
Please contact me if you have any question! I look forward to working on giving you the confidence and tools you need to reach your GPA and career goals.
