Hailing from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where students are encouraged to pursue science fields, I grew up with love and interest towards almost all the sciences, except physics. However, I learned in high school that no subject, including physics, is too difficult if approached in a skillful and systematic manner. I developed a strong passion for tutoring when I worked as a Math and Chemistry tutor in my final years of undergraduate studies at Amherst College, were I double majored in Biology and Mathematics and pursued the pre-medicine track. Tutoring fascinates me because it allows me to help other students understand materials better and also help them become equally excited about subjects that excite me.
I tutor a wide variety of science courses including Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and Sociology. My tutoring style slightly varies based on my students' personalities but I always make sure that my students have a strong foundation to build on before we tackle harder concepts. I love tutoring all of my subjects but I particularly enjoy Math and Physics because I am able to observe my students apply concepts, definitions and equations into each question we work through.
Outside of tutoring, I am currently working in an ER to build my clinical experience for medical school and I am also preparing to take the MCAT. In my free time, I enjoy playing with babies, cats and dogs as well as cooking.
