I am currently a 4th-year student at the University of Virginia. I am a psychology major and art history minor! I am currently working towards Orton Gillingham certification! I plan on eventually pursuing a career in dyslexia education! I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I have been involved in the program Eye to Eye for students specifically with adhd and other learning exceptionalities! I have been tutoring both online and in person for 2 and a half years! I tutor anything from lower level reading to middle school, AP subjects, ACT/SAT, art, algebra 1/2 and history! I also specialize in tutoring dysgraphia, dyslexia, executive functioning and organization! I meet each student as a new oppurtunity! I believe a students learning style and educational desires come first and foremost. I work with each student to create a plan that works for them! We are also always constantly revising these! I work through each students goals in terms of their "big 3", which I have found helps break everything down. We work through goals on the minute, hour, daily, monthly and then longer term! I think that fit is key, and the key to many student's success is just having the right person to help, listen and work through their struggles with them! I am on my students team. This is the key to helping students feel empowered and in control of their own success. I also implement various exercise and mindfulness strategies in my sessions. I take each student's interests into account in making these sessions something to look forward to.I also like all of my students to keep a journal of how they are feeling and to track their educational progress. Setbacks are inevitable, but it is all about facing our fears and tackling the tasks we maybe don't like or feel ready to do! Life is a journey and I love getting to be apart of each of my students life. It is all about creating the building blocks for success and recognizing that what works for one person may not work for another, and that is totally okay! We are all constantly evolving and I am a huge fan of providing and receiving feedback, then using it to move forward!
