Hello! My name is Rose and I am the proud owner of a fresh Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry from St. Edward's University. While at St. Edward's, I was employed as a teaching assistant in the chemistry laboratories, a supplemental instructor, and a peer tutor. I have three years of experience working with students and peers in general and analytical chemistry. My teaching and tutoring style is to meet you where you are in your understanding, and once a foundation has been established together, build upon that. You like to learn by example? I'll come up with practice problems that we'll work through together. You take lots of notes? I will summarize the main concepts succinctly so that you have something to look back on as you study independently. You need to complain for a moment and express frustrations before getting started on learning? I will listen and sympathize with you, as I've been there!
Having three years of experience tutoring, concurrently with four years of my own studies to earn my degree, I am confident in my ability to help you learn scientific concepts. Science, and especially chemistry, can seem full of strange vocabulary, unimportant concepts, and hidden mathematics that are an added, unwelcome factor. However, I do my very best to provide real world examples of how the concepts we are learning are relevant in your own life. Giving students some context and perspective, I have learned, makes learning science just a little bit easier.
I am excited to get to know you and to work together to achieve your goals. I have all this fresh chemistry knowledge hanging out in my brain, I need someone to talk to about it, so please reach out and let me know how I can help you graduate, get into medical school, impress your friends or anything in between!
