I currently live in Little Rock, AR. I graduated from Abilene Christian University in May 2016 with my B.S. in Biochemistry. I am currently in my second year of graduate school at UAMS seeking a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Pharmacology.
Becoming a scientist was no easy task. In high school, I played varsity baseball in the largest school division in Texas. I hit second in the lineup, and the first, third, and fourth batters in our lineup are now actively playing in the Minor Leagues. While I had the talent to pursue professional baseball, I felt a calling toward Biochemistry. It took me years to master the techniques of how to study the different sciences while in college. I took the MCAT three times before obtaining the score I needed to get into medical school. And guess what!? I used Varsity Tutors to help me prepare for the MCAT (shout out to Travis).
My favorite subjects to teach are General Chemistry (college level), Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Algebra-related math, Quantitative and Scientific Reasoning, and Molecular Biology.
I spent 3 of my 4 years in college as a Teacher's Assistant in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Labs. I was also a tutor in the Biology Department during my senior year. I have even served as a long term substitute for a PAP Chemistry class while the high school searched for a permanent teacher. I have very extensive teaching experiences in the Sciences.
As you can tell, I have dedicated the last 8 years of my life to studying science, and I plan to dedicate the rest of my life to furthering my knowledge of science, specifically in Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
I look forward to working with all students who are dedicated, determined, and willing to do what it takes to succeed!
