I attended The University of Texas at San Antonio where I earned my degree in Chemistry with a double minor in Biology and Mathematics. During my Chemistry studies I specialized towards bio- and medicinal chemistries, while also spending a year in a BioInorganic lab developing and testing metalloenzyme models. However, upon leaving the University and moving out of state, I decided to temporarily leave the labs to spend some valuable time with my family. Honestly, I was a little hesitant at leaving the world of science all together, so I decided to take up tutoring (as I've always loved teaching as well). In fact, I spent much of my time at the University tutoring other students: friends, classmates, and frankly anyone who would ask me. I even found myself in a few officially appointed teaching positions by request of my professors. As a result, I've tutored across many different subjects but my favorite areas to teach are definitely the math and the sciences. I've seen few subjects where more people needlessly struggle, or worse develop perceptions of an incapacity to learn. Personally, I'm a firm believer that anyone is capable of learning anything, if given the right approach and patience. In the end, helping others to discover their capacities is, well, just as rewarding as anything I might contribute in a lab. Regarding who I am outside of academia, in my spare time I do a lot of reading covering a variety of topics. Everything from science journals and psychology to world literature and foreign language. I also travel from time to time. I love exploring new cultures and the opportunity of seeing the world from a different point of view. Then if I'm not doing one of those two things, you'll most likely find me cooking in my kitchen or working in my garden.
