I have experience working one on one with students and teaching biology in a large college classroom, including to students that are not motivated in the subject area. I enjoy helping students learn in a manner that will help them feel more confident with their own knowledge which will translate into higher test scores. I will approach each lesson utilizing customized questions involving pertinent details of the subject matter that are often misunderstood, or, that pertain to the student's weaknesses in the topic. As a result, students will more easily recognize the details in test questions needed to discover the correct answer. I also utilize a variety of other tried and true strategies while working with a student such as asking the student to explain a concept in their own words, and to think of real world examples. I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in ecology, both from Penn State University. I love the subject of biology and the amazing new discoveries that continue to be made in the subject! I have two children that I have home schooled on and off from grades K-4. In addition to tutoring students in college biology, I can tutor students in grades K-6 in math and science.
