When I was working on my final project during college -- a solo performance show -- there was one part, a story I was telling about high school, that kept falling flat. My adviser, Karen, said something along the lines of, "In my experience, when something I write isn't working, it means I have to add more detail." That was one of the most valuable lessons I've ever learned.
I received my bachelor's degree in dance from Ohio State University, and my master's in journalism from Northwestern University. I've worked across several specialties, from writing about health and science, to playwriting, to working with adults with developmental disabilities.
I love reading, writing, telling stories and engaging with audiences. If you'd like to work with me, I will do my best to give you a meaningful and enjoyable experience, whether you're looking to develop comprehension skills, tell a personal narrative, persuade your readers or anything else.
I try to write in my own voice, the way I'd tell a story in person. I've found I can use that technique as a starting point even in formal situations. I greatly enjoy hearing other people's voices, and I look forward to working with clients to develop skills and produce work they are confident with.
