I recently graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland with a degree in biology and environmental studies. During my time in college, I volunteered for positions where I would encourage academic learning. These jobs included volunteering as a docent at a local museum, working on a neuroscience competition at my college, and assisting an event to teach girls about STEM careers. Several of my classes stressed the value of effective communication, so I was taught how to present information about several topics. I believe that in order for someone to learn a subject they have to be interested in the material. As a tutor, I will strive to get the student invested in the lessons and teach them the information in memorable ways. My majors in biology and environmental studies have left me experienced with several topics including general biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, invertebrate zoology, statistics, demography, environmental science, and chemistry. During my biostatistics course, I was taught how to analyze data using R. Also, I have always been good at and enjoyed mathematics.
Finally, I have always been passionate about history, and have made efforts over the years to learn as much as I can about it. However, I am not limited to these subjects, because St. Mary's College of Maryland is a liberal arts college, I was taught a wide variety of subjects. This wide range of topics is a continuation of the International Baccalaureate program, which I participated in during high school and earned an IB diploma from. In this program, I took several classes including Theory of Knowledge, Environmental Systems and Societies SL, European History HL, Math Studies SL, and Biology HL. I also took several AP tests including Physics B, Calculus AB, U.S. History, U.S. Government and Politics, and Environmental Science.
