I'm a pre-med undergraduate at Cornell University and I am hoping to attend medical school in the near future. I went to Hunter College High School in NYC. I've worked with students in high school as a writing center mentor, where I edited students essays and writing pieces. Students would often ask me to edit their essays, or have specific questions about outlines and how they should go about writing their essays. I assist them with grammar edits, as well as resume writing. I won a gold key for the Scholastic Writing Awards. I also worked with students in math and help teach the curriculum before the students learn it during the school year. This will help them get a head start into the subject.
I tutor in: middle school math reading and writing, high school writing, college application essays, pre-algebra, AP Art Studio Art: drawing, SAT Writing and Language, ACT Writing, Algebra, Pre-calculus, trigonometry, algebra 2, SAT Subject Test Math I, SAT Subject Test Math II.
My favorite subjects to tutor is writing because I like to give my personal experiences with writing and how I overcame the troubles I had when I was learning about the foundations of writing. I also like tutoring in math, specifically Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, because of the fun nature behind these topics.
I strongly believe in visualization. I think this is the best way for a student to understand concepts, especially when it comes to complex topics in math. I also believe repetition and examples are a great way to fully understand concepts. Is the student can repeat the material to me in layman's terms, and can teach the material to other people, then the student has demonstrated mastery in the material.
My hobbies include: swimming, drawing, painting, photography, and traveling. I often enjoy exploring new and unique restaurants in the city, as well as explore nature areas, such as the Ithaca gorges.
